My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois
December 6th I was charged with my first offense EVER; Felony Retail Theft ($800 worth of Gillette razor cartridges). This happened in Chicago, IL. I sat in the county jail for 30 days awaiting trial and was sentenced to 2 years of felony probation.
My probation guidelines are basic and include reporting once a month to my PO, not leaving the state of Illinois, and of course not getting in any more trouble.
I'm trying to do a state transfer and move back to my home state of Michigan but my PO says it could take up to 6 months and I really don't want to wait that long to move.
My question is if I were to move to Michigan, and took the trip once a month to meet my PO in Chicago, how risky would that be? If I were to get pulled over in Michigan would the police see that I'm on probation in IL and am not supposed to leave the state? Would this be a severe probation violation if my PO found I was living in Michigan? Please help, and thanks in advance.![]()
