My question involves criminal law for the state of: California.
I was in a stupid phase of my life, and I got caught shoplifting 2 years ago. I completed a program, and I was told that charges were dropped and nothing should go on record.
Everytime I apply somewhere, I get a background check back saying I have a shoplifting charge on my file, and NOTHING about it being dropped.
Obviously, I called Western Corrections, and they told me if I got the number of a background agency, I could get them to fax this info there. However, there are COUNTLESS background checking agencies, and I can't possibly find them all. I have applied to a certain job more than once, and so I know what company THEY use, but a new company (bestbuy) is opening in a town near me, and I'm afraid to apply before I can figure out how to deal with this. What can I do?
