Alright... a few weeks ago, I was slowing to a stop with my foot on the brake and I basically just had a moment... my attention lapsed for a second and I rolled into the car in front of me probably going about 5 mph. The damage was VERY minimal... but....
The girl wanted to call the cops because it was her parents' car, so he showed up. I got two tickets -- one for not having proof of insurance (long story, it was a new car and I hadn't switched it to the new car, but it was within the month grace period so that's a no brainer and will be dropped).
I'm at work right now, but the second charge was something like failing to avoid accident or something. The cop told me the girl didn't ask for the court date so presumably won't even show up, and I'm pretty sure the cop isn't going to show up either. How do I plead, or will I even have to? My driving record is clean, this is the first accident I've ever been in. If I'm asked to plea, I want to plead guilty, because I'm just too honest of a person, but I've been told that if the cop and girl don't show to plead "not guilty" since there is nothing they can hold against me.
I know it's not a big deal at all, but I'm just wondering what to expect. Help me out.
