My question involves a roommate in the State of: Texas
Situation: 2 bedroom apartment. The electric bill is in my name. Roommate agreed to pay half of electricity to me each month. A conflict of personalities occurred, we no longer speak except regarding bills. I have always sent my roommate the electric bill in adobe format over email, keeping record of each email. An electric bill was due on January, 23. I requested payment from my roommate, I received none. I paid the electricity in full. I have a new electric bill due this month, due on February 25th.
Action: I intend to write my roommate a certified letter, requesting payment for both bills, with the following attached
1. The January electric bill (and the email that says I sent the bill attached as a .pdf)
2. The February electric bill (requesting payment for his share)
In addition to those two bills, I would like to attach some state law or even case law that in essence says roommates, when verbally agreed, must split the electricity, regardless of what name is on the bill.
Can anyone help me out? Tell me where to look?
Also, please inform me if I should take any other action.
