My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NEWYORK
I live in rental apartment in manhattan for last 10 years.
I was once sued by landroad in 2002 when I didnt pay 3 month rent and
owed about $6000. It was settled, but this time, I'm going to move to
California. Right now, I owed $2300 and by the end of this month, it will add up to $4600. I'm planning to move out around March 27, and by the time, I will be owed $6900. I' sure i ll be sued again.
I paid security deposit and the last month rent when I moved in, so The landroad has $3400. so even I owe $6900, he loses $3500 instead.
What happen if he sues me, and I will be out of town (Cali) ???
PLEASE HELP.
