My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: PA

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me. I'm moving over to the US on a visa but still driving on a UK license - this is clean. Today I got pulled over for this offence... to be honest I believe I stopped however the officer in question disagreed. I have to say she was was unreasonable, refusing to listen to my questions about what I had done or what the consequences were - saying I should sign the ticket or tell the judge why I was refusing to sign it (I had never refused I just wanted to understand the implications of it).

Anyway, she wrote me a ticket with a) the wrong date on it and b) my name on it wrongly (first and middle name only no last name).

She called some over officers to the scene who I spoke to after she left - they were more helpful. One told me I had the right to take this to court and suggested I might want to do so, and looking at your forums this seems fairly standard practise. If I have to pay the $118 fine I can live with that, but obviously I want to avoid getting points on my US license and bumping up my insurance.

As of yet I don't have a United States / PA license but obviously will be taking that test at some point. So, what should I do:

Contest the ticket in court? If so what's the worst that can happen here and what generally should I say?

Pay the fine and assume that because they have my name recorded wrongly on the citation, because I don't yet have a Social Security Number and I'm not a registered driver in PA then when I do get my license it won't have any points on it?

Or, something else?

Long post I know but your help is much appreciated!
