My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Illinois
I have worked for a City municipal goverment in illinois for 10 years. I was a full time employee for 6 years and for the past 4 years I have been part time. Following my reduction in hours 4 years ago, my employer asked me to resign from my position so that I could be rehired as a temporary employee (performing the same duties for the same salary - minus benefits - as in my permanent employee status). So in a nutshell I resigned and was rehired under the new heading all in the same day. My employer said that this was simply to avoid having to rewrite payroll codes for my part time schedule, but that the "temporary" position would be extended indefinately. In November (after approximately 4 years in the temporary position) I was notified that based on budget constraints they would no longer be needing my services. My question is whether I would qualify for unemploment benefits because (1) I was part-time and (2) I was classified as "temporary". If it makes any difference, my earnings were $500 - $700 every 2 weeks depending on the total number of hours worked.
