Default Student Needs Help for Business Law Class

    Dear members,

first, I don't know if I am in the right forum but it seemed to be the most appropriate for my question. I am taking a business law class this semester and would need anybody's help for the following question:

Provide an example and short summary of 1 civil court case that involve business or business law (case must be from the last 5 years)
and the same question with a criminal court case

Of course I am not asking anybody to do my homework, but I have been trying to find examples on the internet but it was unsuccessful. All I am asking you is, if you have any examples that could fit in with my questions, could you please leave me a link here so I can study it and answer the question?

thank you very much for your attention,

    have a great evening.

As a starter, try researching: White Collar crime.

If we are to consider government as a "business" try Mike Nifong.

    Nifong is a good one....

OP, you would be surprised at the cases that have both a civil and criminal component.

Sure, big cases like wrongful death and the like, but also much smaller cases like shoplifting.

If you stole a $10 pair of sunglasses from the drugstore, you could be arrested for the theft (criminal) and receive a civil demand (civil). The civil demand would be for the costs to make the retailer whole from your actions. The criminal case would probably include a fine as well as some other remedies...

So, yes, you would get to pay TWO fines for the same crime.
