Arrow Stole $40 Worth of Liquor from Wal-Mart

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Nevada

I am 19 and I was caught Saturday stealing three bottles of rum for a total of $38 from Wal-Mart. The employees caught me and a friend on tape concealing the bottles in a comforter in the store, paying for the comforter and not the alcohol, and walking out with the above-mentioned items. Once they stopped us, they called the police who then wrote a citation for both me and my friend. We were both charged with petit larceny and an MIP (minor in possession).

I would like to know what kind of penalties I'll be facing, what my options would be in terms of representation, and what possible effects this could have on future employment and college scholarships.

    Thank you.

At nineteen, you're looking at a potential jail sentence, fines, maybe community service, and of course a criminal record. You're probably going to get probation, not jail.

You can check with the court if you're eligible for a court-appointed lawyer. If not, or even if so, you have every right to hire a lawyer.

A criminal record for theft can affect your future prospects. I suggest consulting a criminal defense lawyer to try to minimize the record you get out of this.
