Exclamation Overextended Stay. Can They Be Removed W/O Legal Implications

My question involves a roommate in the State of: NJ

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NJ
A friend of mine that lives in NJ just allowed a mutual acquaintance to move in with her temporarily. Unfortunately, our acquaintance has clearly disrespected my friend's living arrangements by not following what she's been asked for. Our acquaintance does not pay for any rent or any bills (food, utilities, etc.)--my friend did not for monetary help because our acquaintance is unemployed. This arrangement was to be temporary, but due to the acquaintance lack of responsibility and respect to follow my friend's rules they are now bickering and my friend does not feel comfortable in her own home. Our acquaintance does not seem to be lookin' for a job and all this person worries about is partying and socializing. My friend has asked for acquaintance to leave by this Sunday coming up (2 days from today), but the way things are progressing we're preparing for the worst. What legal rights do they both have? Some people suggested changing the locks to her apartment and placing the acquaintance's valuables in the hall of the building. My friend checked her building's rules and it cannot be done unless it's spoken and approved by the landlord. Plus acquaintance can take legal action against her in civil court. Police also said that they cannot escort her out of the property because acquaintance has unpacked her valuables and it's basically my friend's words against acquaintance's. Please help, my friend is under a lot of stress.

No, your friend ought not be changing the locks. That's an illegal eviction, and will get her into some serious trouble.

She's going to need to undertake formal eviction proceedings to get the acquaintance out.
