My question involves an eviction in the state of Pennsylvania. My roommate and I are both on the lease. She has not paid rent at any point (we've been living here for approximately 5 months out of a 12 month lease). She has started locking doors on the apartment so that I can't access some of the rooms.
I want her to move out, but she refuses because she says she can't afford it (meanwhile she has bought several pieces of expensive audio equipment since we started renting here). I talked to the landlord, she recommended that I give my roommate a notice to vacate within 10 days, and include a detailed list of all past rents due. If my roommate doesn't leave after the ten days, I should then to file a claim with the magistrate if the roommate doesn't leave.
Is this the correct course of action? What should I include on the notice to vacate?
