Default Name Not on the Lease, Am I Able to Leave Sooner

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the Province of: NS

Hi, I'm currently living in a house as a student. My roommate and her mother signed the house lease for 12 months. My name is not on the lease in any form. I have decided to move out after the school semester ends which will conclude the 12 months. If I was to leave sooner, as in 1 or 2 months earlier would I be in anyway responsible for the rent that is due for those months if I was not living their anymore? Legallly would I have to provide them any notice if I was to leave?

    Thank you in advanced!

I live in Ontario, Canada (SORRY - I didn't mean to write Nova Scotia (NS) where I'm actually from). If you don't know Canadian law, its fine, just in general terms what is the likeliness of me being responisble for the rent after I'm gone, given the above situation

Canadian law is foreign to me (yes, it was meant to be funny, sorry if it wasn't)

So, based on US general law principles.

I would think your rent agreement is with the roommate and her mother. As such, it is whatever it is. If you agreed to pay foe the entire period, then that is what you would be liable for. If you did not agree to a specific term, then generally you would be considered a month to month or even week to week tenant depending on what you payment period was.

As such, you would be able to terminate your lease by giving notice, generally at least one rental period ahead.
