Default Trying to Get a Green Card

My friend entered into the U.S illegally i believe, but when he was still a baby.
He didn't find out he was not a citizen until a few years ago, and he is still under the age of 18.

Is there anything he can do now? Or does he have to wait until he is 18?

If he can do anything now, what should he do? He eventually wants to become an American Citizen, and he is looking into getting an immigration lawyer.

Default Re: Trying to Get a Green Card

His unlawful presence in the U.S. doesn't start accruing until he turns 18. His instinct to consult an immigration lawyer is sensible; I suggest that he do just that, preferably soon and preferably well enough in advance of his eighteenth birthday that he can make plans that could involve leaving the U.S. and trying to get a visa to return. Depending upon his nation of origin, there may be options available to him. But as it stands, for most nations, his unlawful entry prevents him from adjusting his status.
