Default Employer Changing Wage After Hire

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: arizona

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to answer, or at least comment, on my present situation.

I was working for a certain company on a per diem basis. I was recently hired full time at a higher per hour wage by the supervisor. After about 10 days of employment, he contacted me via text to explain the director said he could only give a lesser amount and if I thought it unacceptable he understood my desire to leave.

There was no written contract. He left a message when offering the job stating the job hours, days, benefits, and wage. So this is a verbal contract?

    This does not seem legal.
