My question involves a security deposit in the State of: California
I paid a security deposit of $2200 (2 months rent) when I moved into my apartment. I was desperate to find a place so I signed a lease that included a "short-term additional rent" clause. Basically, if I don't stay 15 months, which I'm not going to, I have to pay $1100 in "additional rent for my period of occupancy."
Can my landlord legally enforce this clause and withhold $1100 from my security deposit?
