    Default First Offense Drug Charge

I got the first felony drug charge in October 2008 (the court process is still continuing). I've been a permanent resident of the US for five years (was about to apply for citizenship), have 10 year green card, with no prior convictions.

Make the story short, I was searched and police found 1 gram of cocaine on me.

It looks like I will plead guilty to possession, what scares me is deportation possibility afterwards, ICE coming to my work and arresting me, etc... This is a true nightmare.

I am an educated individual (got BA & MA degrees in US Universities) and I work as a high paid professional – Analyst for a company and never been in trouble with law.

Do you think there is any chance I won’t be deported?

If you are convicted and or if you plead guilty you will be deported.

    Sh*t! SH*t! Sh*t!

So basically after last court meeting when a plea will be entered ICE will be waiting outside of courthouse? or ICE will eb waiting in my apt?

I need to stay in US at least 4 more years. Any possibility?

How does ICE finds out when conviction is entered?

I don't know if they'll be waiting outside the courtroom but sooner or later they will become aware of your situation.

You need to be working with a good criminal defense lawyer who is also familiar with immigration law issues or, failing that, a good criminal defense lawyer and an immigration lawyer.

All that and 1 gram of cocaine will still get you deported and banned.

Very easy once a conviction is entered.

Get that attorney like you've been told.
