Default House Flooded, No Storm Sewer

My question involves real estate located in the State of: Illinois. I bought a house 3 years ago that flooded in the Fall of 2007. FEMA came in and helped us try to figure out the problem. There is no storm sewer and the city doesn't seem to have an answer to how to hook it up. We have to pump water out of our yard so we do not flood again when the snow melts or we have a few days of rain. The former owner had the same problem and pumped also. He lied on the disclosure statement. We have a ranch with no basement. How do I find help? We can't keep living like this.

Talk to a real estate lawyer about whether you have a viable claim against the seller. Keep in mind that there will be a statute of limitations and you've already waited three years - time isn't your friend.

Consider consulting an engineering firm about your options for drainage.
