My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Florida.
I'm sixteen years old, I've graduated high school with a diploma not a GED. I've already been enrolled into a trade school in Orlando and I begin in May of 2009. I'll be seventeen when I move up there, but seventeen still isn't old enough.
I've talked with my parents about the situation and they've agreed to sign over emancipation forms. The only questions I have are these: because of the emancipation will I be eligible to sign for an apartment myself? [I've tried to sign myself for an apartment before. I rake in anywhere between $1000 - $1300 a month with taxes taken out. They still didn't allow me to put a lease down because of my age.] Will finding a job be just as easy as if I were eighteen or at least a little easier than it would be without the emancipation? And if there are any other benefits about the situation you might know of?
If you have any information, personal experience or know of any helpful resources [websites] please let me know. Thanks a lot!
Edit: Oh, and how long does the emancipation process take with parental consent of both parents?
