My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
So I was part of a 60 person lay off here in San Francisco and have been on unemployment since last month. I can no longer afford my apartment in San Francisco so I am relocating to Los Angeles. When I recently filled out my form as usual and checked the box to change my address I received a letter at my new address telling me I need to have a phone interview at the end of the month instead of the Check I was expecting. The disturbing part is that I am dependent on these checks to pay rent and am now in a bit of a situation. Does anyone know if it would be best to walk into the SF unemployment office instead of waiting for the phone call to possibly get my checks for this month? Why would they need to speak with my on the phone and what about? Is there something I did wrong? Will I still get the checks in time to pay rent at the end of the month, will I see them at all? I am so very confused, please advise. Thank you so much.
