Unhappy Charged With Petty Theft While on Informal Probation

This happened in the state of: California

Today, I went into Costco, and without thinking (obviously) I stuffed a box of Boca Burgers and 2 Star Wars DVD in my tote bag. (about $70)
I went into Costco not knowing that I was going to steal because I actually did purchase a few food items and got my photos developed.
I don't even know why I would steal if I had money in my purse. I just did it.
And I am seriously ashamed of myself.

I am 21 years of age, and living at home with my parents.
Money has always been an issue when we talk about it.
Hence, why I'm on informal probation.
Got caught with identity theft in 2007, and was asked to pay the restitution, do community service, and be on informal probation for 3 years.

As soon as I walked out of the Costco, a bunch of undercover agents stopped me and took me back into the warehouse and questioned me.
They were very rude to me and refused to answer any of my questions.
They just took my picture, made me fill out some paperwork, and took my membership card.
Cops came soon after and asked me questions. (They were very nice to me.)
I was given a citation (even though they told me they could arrest me if they wanted).

I asked them what is the worse that can happen in court since I am already on informal probation.
They said I could pay a fine of $1000 and go to jail for 30 days.

Can someone please tell me what else could happen?
Can my probation be extended? Will I be asked to pay a fine?

I am very scared for my life right now.
I don't know what to do.
I seriously have learned my lesson now.
I am a very stupid person.
It's hard to survive right now, cause I haven't told me parents about this yet.
My family is having financial problems and this'll KILL them if I told them I did it again.
And I only did this, so they wouldn't have to worry about money.
    =(

Can someone please tell me what I should do?
An attorney is very expensive. :/

This will most definitely violate your probation.

I would call whomever has your file.

You now are facing whatever penalties are involved with the new crime as well as the left over penalties from the old one.

Yes, the old charge can be fully reinstated... minus an amount the judge considers prudent for what you have already served.

You will receive a civil demand letter in the mail. It will be for several hundred dollars. Pay it.

This amount is above and beyond anything you will be fined criminally.

The judge will, most likely, give you a fine, probation and community service.

I don't know what you will receive from the original charge and the violation of your probation.
