    Default Worried About Citizenship Decision

    Hi,
    I am 23 years old. I applied for citizenship on base of my military service. I had interview today. I had two dui's on my record. The officer give me a form which says he need the originals of dispostion of arrests and dui's. I told him i have them and i gave him the originals after that he told me he cant make decision right now and they gonna let me know within one month. Right now i am really stressed what to do or think. why he didn't made the decision? Can somebody help me with my question.

    He didn't make the decision because the additional documents need to be added to your file and they need to investigate to make sure that's all you have.

    Relax. The government moves very, very slowly. Generally, a couple DUIs will not torpedo a citizenship application, particularly if they are not recent.

    Were these both simple DUI's (punishable by, e.g., a maximum of 90 day sin jail)? There's more concern if the second DUI was charged as an aggravated or habitual offense, with a greater potential sentence. For example, at a certain point, most states start charging repeat DUI offenders with felonies, and many states have laws that can result in a DUI charge becoming a felony or carrying a much greater penalty under certain circumstances (e.g., DUI while transporting children).

    Thanks for replies. Actually the both dui had simple fines and 6 month license suspension. The 2nd one had 12 hours idrc(Intoxicated Driver Resource Classes). The both are paid. Had no probation and no jail.
