    Default Obama is Officially President

And I am the very first in this forum to wish him congratulations. May God, Yahweh, Allah, and all other gods bless him.

First, while Obama might not have been my first choice, I wholeheartedly support my president. The speech was moving... while I know that inaugural speeches are very much written with a view on history, his hit many notes that I was heartened to see included. It was a speech that included hope while stating that the road ahead was not without bumps, cracks and the occaisonal abyss. Very well done.

I am the first to hope that our new president lives up to everyone's expectations. He has a full plate... and a congress that doesn't like the thought of ANY president telling them what to do... regardless of party affiliation. I sincerely hope that he is the man of integrity, truth and honor that this country needs in that position... and pray that he finds the strength for the tasks ahead.

My other hopes for him? I hope him to be a man of precise decision and decisive action. I hope him to be a man governed by his personal moral compass and not by what is written about him in the press. I hope him to be a man prepared to make popular and unpopular decisions... as long as he believes those decisions to be correct.

I hope that the press that has proven itself to be vicious and divisive learns to allow for humanity and the inherent imperfection there while still holding him accountable for his actions and decisions. I hope that the world sees him as the best man for the job and not as a gimmick or result of guilt - but as a man for whom the color of his skin is an interesting but unimportant footnote. I hope that he stays grounded and connected to the people from whom he came and not to listen too much to those that worship him as the answer to all problems and the fount of all wisdom.

I hope he allows himself to make mistakes rather than to do nothing. I hope that he remembers the rich history of this country as he writes the next chapter. I hope that his election and presidency becomes the benchmark upon which the next candidates strive to surpass rather than try to live down. In the last several elections cycles, the sitting president's endorcement (both Republican and Democrat) of a campaign has actually been seen as a detriment to a candidate's chances of success. We deserve better.

Lastly, I hope he remembers that he is merely the steward of that chair and that his decisions and actions will reflect upon all of those that occupy it after he has become a historical "jeopardy" question. Others have occupied that chair.... some far better than others... some as objects of honor and integrity and some as objects of humor and corruption.

I sincerely hope that he is the best of them all. Because this country deserves no less.

I add my prayers and sincere hopes for success.

I worked the phones for both his Ohio Primary and his Presidential campaigns, and I'm not at all ashamed to say that I cried when he took the Oath of Office yesterday. My husband and sons, all marginalized during the past 8 years because of their heritage, they sent text messages home, telling me that they were crying too.

They feel a part of their own country again.

NO ONE in American government has ever resonated with me the way President Obama has. He values knowledge, service...and hard work. It's a joy for me to see someone who comes from hard work rather than inherited money taking the reins.

    Hail to the Chief, y'all.

The country is in the worst enonomic shape since the great depression.

"These are the times that try men's souls" to borrow an aphoristic phrase.

My mom told me they used to get an Orange for christmas, that's all.

Having been to DC a number of times in my life and have sat in the Senate and House galleries, I saw first hand how the National government works.

I have nothing but hope for Obama that he can assume the enormous task of fixing the Nation without dispair.

He did say one thing wrong in his speech. He said 44 Americans have taken the oath of office, as he is the 44th President, not true. Of course he knows this, it was just for speech sake.

Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and the 24th President, seperate terms, so only 43 Americans have taken the Presidential oath of office.

I just would like to ask a few things...

Can we now finally stop the press's "Obamagasm" and have them get back to the job of actually watchdogging the president and his actions? We have a Treasury Secretary nominee that didn't pay his taxes until after his nomination and a Chief of Staff that was discussing Senatorial choices with Blago... and no one is talking about it...Do you think W would have been able to do that? Of course not.

Two... let's hold Pres. Obama to the same standards that Pres. Bush was.
    1. Let's count the number of Justice Department people that lose their job when the new AG takes his/her job. (Janet Reno fired 95, Gonzales fired 9.)
    2. Let's hold the president to the first 100 days promises that he made.
    3. Let's get a day by day accounting of the stock market numbers and pin them directly to his shoulders... (Down 300 point on inauguration day, another 300 the first day of the Presidency... )
    4. Let's demand the clear answer to tough questions... not just ask how much his wife's clothing costs...but how are the promises made going to become promises kept? Now that he is officially working for us, we deserve the details.

    Let's start there.

For the record, in his first two days of office, Pres. Obama does seem to be a man of action on his promises... noticably Gitmo and limiting pay to senior staff and limiting their ability to be influenced by outside lobbyists...

Being a watchdog doesn't mean just seeing the bad... it means SEEING...
