There's always a possibility that some record of a crime will continue to exist after expunction. Nobody can guarantee that somebody won't pick up the traces. But there ain't nothin' better. You can't get a pardon, as you weren't convicted - and a pardon isn't an expunction, so it doesn't erase the records - in fact, it creates a new one.
