My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Florida
My husband has filed a chapter 13 case and has attended the 341 meeting and is awaiting the confirmation date. My questions is this is a second marriage for both of us and I'm not on any of the debt he filed chapter 13 and I have two children and I recievd SSI for myself and my children. We recieved a letter from the trustees office explaining we have to send a copy of the tax return for this year and that any refund has to be turned over to her. I do not feel I should have to turn my tax return over to her and this is money I get for my children and depend on to take care of things for my kids and myself. We have filed a joint returns since we got married and it helped him because he is allowed the tax credit of the children which offset what he had to pay in. He actually got a tax return because of my children. How do I protect my tax return?
