Post Bar Employee Charged With Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington

My wife, a bartender of nine plus years, recieved a citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor during a sting operation at a local bar.
The minor was carded at the door and let in due to the door persons lack of awareness.
She understands that you can not blame the first line of defense (door person) because she was the one whom ultimately served the beers.

Is there a defense strategy here?

    Thanks,
    Concerned Spouse

Yes. Get an attorney, and do it now.

Under the liquor control laws of most states, your wife can be fined and imprisoned for providing alcohol to a minor, and she could lose her job. The state will argue that she was responsible for checking ID at the bar.

Ok, this is the wife talking now. The max fine is 1000 and 90 days in jail, I'm not worried about that. I have been a bartender for 9 1/2 years 9 at this bar 7 as the night manager. I have a perfect record, even have an award from the Wa state liquor board for reducing the sale of liqour to a minor. And my bar has no violations for it. I also know a lot of the police officers in the city that know, (and like) me from the bar. I'm worried about a stiffer fine if I give a plea of no contest or not guilty. Also I have very strong issuses with minors I card more offten then not. NO EXCUSES the only reason i didn't is because it was are most busy night of the month, (band night) and we had 4 security guards. 2 at each door I made a bad assumtion that security was doing it's job, I just don't want this on my record. and want to know if there is anything i can do to make a good inpertion before my court date on the 29th. The owner and I have made it mandatory that all employees take/retake the liquor board training class on the 20th.

Pleading not guilty is what you do when you want your lawyer to work with the DA to try and get the charges reduced. Your history will help support your claim. You should consult an attorney prior to pleading anything to see what your chances are.
Ask one of your cop friends who a good lawyer would be. Thoses who work within the system will have a good idea of how things work.
