My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
16 years ago I had someone I considered to be my friend attempt to carjack me. He asked for a ride and when I went to pick him up, he had two friends sneak up from behind my truck with shotguns drawn. I put my head down and drove away as fast as possible. After I got about 1/2 mile down the road, I looked over at my passenger and told him to get out. He was scared and jumped out. I was 21 and he was 17. He suffered minor "road rash" injuries but was picked up by police walking home. He told them that I forced him into my truck with a knife and he dove out to save himself. I was charged with aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon accepted deferred adjudication, completed the probation, community service, fines, etc. That was my first and last offense.
My question: I am filing for a State license as a professional home inspector. I have completed my training, but after reading the application for the State, have to write a letter about the situation and include paperwork from the court. Will this ruin my chances? Is there paperwork I should not submit?
I did a background check on myself and it states a 3rd degree felony and under "multiple sentence" it states "concurrent"
Any ideas? suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
