Default Changing a Court Date in New Jersey

My question involves traffic court in the State of: New jersey

I was issued a court order for 2 parking tickets dating april 2006 and june 2006. The problem is i never received this ticket. I was shocked because i was never been in that place (newark) and i have records that i was at work on those days.

They send me a letter to appear in court on 1/22/09 I never received any 2nd notice for none payment etc. I just received the court order of this two tickets that are not mine.

The problem is im scheduled to go on a trip out if the country on 1/18 to 2/7. I called the clerk and told them that im not gonna be here on the court day. They told me to write a letter and fax to the judge and ask to reschedule. So i did monday. I faxed and actually mailed it certified also. They told me i will get the answer through mail.

My question is.... what if i didnt get any answer. Is it okay to go on my scheduled trip. Will i get in trouble if i leave and not wait for the answer if they will change the court date and not. Let me know what you think... im so confused.

If you do not get an answer, no, it is not okay to go on your scheduled trip.

Unless you don't mind having a warrant issued for your arrest for failure to appear. But really, is vacation worth going to jail over?
