My question involves name change laws in the State of: OREGON
He was told by the birth mother that after establishing paternity she would change the surname is he was the father. She changed her mind and when it was brought before the judge the judge ruled the name would remain as the mother's surname. However the judge did decide that the middle name of the child would be changed to the father's surname(Didn't realize this could be done). Now the mother is furious and threatening to take it to an appellate court. Is there any reason an appellate court would overturn the order ruled on by the original judge. We didn't ask for the middle name change but the father seem satisfied with the decision since the surname remained as the mother's.
