My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: CA
I just recently received a letter saying that I am no longer eligible for unemployment benefits do to the fact that I "quit" my former job and was not laid off as I had claimed. They are also making me liable for all the money they gave to me thus far.
The fact of the matter is, for 3 months, beginning May 2008, I was employed with a TEMPORARY AGENCY and towards the end of July 2008, my temp. agency pulled me out of the assignment. They told me that they would find me another assignment, but never did. I sat at home for about 2 weeks with no response from this temp agency. I never got a call back, so I assumed that since I was not working, I was laid off. I had PLENTY of bills to pay such as rent and insurance. I claimed unemployment and they started giving me money from August 30, 2008 until the first week of December.
I had my 3rd phone interview on December 5th 2008 and I told the very rude man my situation and explained to him that I did not "quit" the temporary agency. I just wrote and appeal, and haven't sent it yet, can someone PLEASE help me with this issue. I'm only 21 years old and I'm still a university student. There is no way I can afford $2,400 to pay these people back!!![]()
