My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan
A tenant was living with her boyfriend in which she was not on the lease. They got into a domestic dispute and he moved out. One week went by and the tenant was in contact with the landlord regarding the situation and he gave her until the end of the month to move out. The
boyfriend then turns off the water and the tenant tried to get it turned on in her name but the Landlord called the utility company and told them not to allow her to. I know this is against the law because he is denying the occupant of sanitary conditions. She has three children as well.
This landlord also placed derogatory information on her credit report that states, "Do not rent to this tenant ever!". Isn't that a violation of the Fair Debt Collecting Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act?![]()
