    Default Register car in Illinois

    I just moved to Illinois, going to school from Michigan, and I obtained my IL license last week. I brought my car with me, and I would like to know what are the procedures to register it in the state of Illinois.

    Since the plate number I have expires in November, can I wait to register in IL untill that month? What are the legal issue I could face if I keep driving my car in Illinois with valid registeration from Michigan while using IL license to drive the car?

    Please note that I am NOT making any payment on this car.

    Please help..

    As you have moved to Illinois as your permanent residence you sould take your title to the Illinois Secretarty of State's Office, Department of Vehicles and apply for an Illinois license and registration within thirty days. If you choose not to do so, you could subject yourself to penalties.
