Default Chase Will Not Refund My Overpayment

My question involves a banking matter in the State of: California

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum...

Basically, I accidently over-paid my second mortage this month. I made the minium payment of $200 an then I made an accidently payment of $400.

My account is locked because my home is worthless which complicates things. Chase keeps giving me the run-around and will not refund my overpayment. They said only if it is a double payment, which makes no sense other than the amount.

    What can I do?

So you are now overpaid for approx 2 months in advance. Watch your statements and do not pay the next two months to clear this up. Just be sure in the second month that the remaining balance that you paid is sufficient to cover the minimum payment required.

If this payment was applied to future mortgage payments you should be fine. If they applied the overage to principal, then you will have to call or write to them to have it reversed.

Thank you so much for the reply. It was paid on the PRINCIPAL, which was my problem.

BUT, get this.. After literally 2 hours on the phone, being pushed around to different people in the same deparments, I slowly fine-tuned my story to make it simple for them to comprehend.

I spoke with a new rep and said "Hello, I overpaid on my bill. I paid twice this month by accident" and the woman on the phone said she initiated a refund process and my mortage account being locked didn't matter, then she offered me a platinum visa card (what the hell?, which I denied). What happened to the we can't do it unless it was a double pay of the same amount, or we can't do it because your account is locked?

Did they just get tired of me calling? I know they keep a history log on my calls. Did I meet the minimum requirement of bitching before they helped? I guess.

So I will check in a day or two to see if my refund goes through. It seems these representatives just want to pass the buck or they follow their procedure like a computer and don't actually think about each problem on a case by case basis They just don't want to listen to you or help you, at least that was my experience with Chase on this matter.

I even used the argument... What if I accidently hit an extra zero and paid $2000 instead of $200. You're telling me I have no option? Which they said I don't until I worded my problem differenlty, called enough times, or spoke with someone who knows what they are doing, or some combination of those things.

Shame and curse them. I'm STEAMED!

Yes you need to keep after them to have the principal payment reversed to be a credit to future interest charges.
