Default University Holds and the Statute of Limitations

I was wondering about the statute of limitations on collections. I have two holds on my account from Western Michigan University: parking violations, the last of which occured on 11-07-2000; and a health services charge, dating from 06-05-2000. I know the S.o.L. is 6 years for collections, so does that apply to these university charges according to the dates they have on file? How do I tell them appropriately about the S.o.L.? Thank you so much!

    Default Statute of Limitations

If the charges are on your university account, the date may well run from the last date you made payment rather than the day the charges were incurred. Once the statute has run, tell them that you believe the debts are no longer valid under the statute of limitations and see how they respond.
