My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
On my daughter's 18th birthday, she sneaked out of the house at 2:00am, was picked up by a 29-year-old man, and they had sex.
After discovering this, we learned that she has sneaked out with him before (several times). She claims that he never had sex with her prior to her 18th birthday, so neither of them would likely admit that they had.
My question is, do I have any right to press charges against this guy? My daughter "met" him on the internet and he has been sneaking her out of our house (while she was a minor) until they finally consummated the act.
I feel like he has victimized her. Furthermore, now that she is 18, do I have a right as her father to press charges, even if she doesn't want me to? I feel like this guy is skirting the line of being a sexual predator, especially seeing how he met her online and has been picking her up during the wee hours of the night, just waiting to pounce when she turned 18. Very predatory if you ask me.
I could really use some advice.
