Unhappy Can an Infraction Be Erased

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California.

My friend was caught shoplifting (petty theft) 4 yrs ago when she was 19. Hired an attorney who took her money and did nothing for her. She paid the fine, and was told that the case wouldn't affect her future employment for PRIVATE companies.

Now, she was hired as an auditor in an accounting firm (private). A week before she starts going to work, the company let her know that her employment has been denied because of the case.

Can infraction be erased? What can she do after she studied accounting for years? She's not gonna get hired anywhere?

Default Re: Can an Infraction Be Erased

As is explained here, infractions are not eligible for dismissal.

She may wish to consult a lawyer about whether there may be other ways to attack or revisit her conviction. No promises.
