My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Washington
(perhaps there is a paternity thread somewhere-please move if more appropriate elsewhere)
at my fiancee's sis's house in Washington, asking to meet dad! He told me he signed over rights in 1991 so another guy could adopt the baby that a girl he had been dating was marrying. He said that he doubted at the time he was the father, but signed over rights because it seemed like the right thing to do. So, today, the 17 year old girl appears at his sister's doorstep and says she wants to meet her father; she is there visiting her "dad". Now, no paternity test was ever done, and he doesnt know what to think. My suggestion was to first eliminate the man who has been her dad all these years (now divorced from her mom for over 10 years), then test my fiancee and see what those results are. Does this seem like an appropriate first step?
What a shock, especially for me who really had NO IDEA.....![]()
