    Default VC 26101 Modified Equipment

My question involves vehicle maintenance laws for the State of: CA

i was recently cited for the blue color light of the rear license plate
on the ticket it said correctable 26101 vc,and the cop told me i only hv to bring my car fix the light and let them inspect then my ticket will be clear, so on the next day i bring my car to let them inspect, and they sign the certificate for me, but then i receive the mail it said i have to pay $122 for the bail amount, and i talked to the lady and she told me its a " non-fix-it" ticket, she schedule me to see the judge and explain to him, what can i do for this case.
and my concern is, if i explain this to the judge will he let me to fix this ticket?
or what else can i do?
also will this ticket effect any point to my license?

I would like to be able to tell you what the judge will do, but unfortunately my psychic powers aren't working today. You'll need to go to court and find out for yourself.

I have been pretty well versed where DMV regulations are concerned regaurding colored lights on a vehicle. From what I understand there is no law where blue lights on a vehicle are concerned. There are for amber and red. For emergency vehicle warning lights, red is only adressed and not blue in the DMV codes for the state of California.

The reason for this is that the law was established for emergency vehicle warning lights in 1961. At that time police, fire and EMT vehicles used only red, amber or white lights. I was recently cited for having "A red light facing forward". However the ticket did not mention the blue that happened to be contained within the strobe mechanism that sits above the rear view mirror in the black police interceptor I drive on occasion.

The vehicle has a blue and red LED strobe because it is part of a fleet of vehicles rented or sold to movie studios for the production of motion pictures. The vehicle I was cited for is actively used in these productions from time to time. When the unit is not active the lenses are clear. We also have the unit wiring disconnected underneath the dash when it is not used for this purpose so that it cannot be used at any other time without taking some effort to get under there and connect it back up.

When the police pulled me over they were shown proper paperwork clearly stating that this Interceptor is used for the production of films a TV programs. They seemed to accept that this was the case. One of the officers there then began to try and get the unit to work and spent about 10 minutes under the dash. He finally got it to work. They then took notice of the blue and red strobes but wrote me up for only the red portion.

They cited it as an infraction that was non-correctable. That I am not clear on because obviously if the unit were removed and then re-installed only when used for the production of motion pictures then it would seem to me that this would be a correctable issue. In the first place I can't find any law banning anyone from having a warning light that has clear lenses as long as it is not activated on a public street or highway even if the wires are not disconnected.

This vehicle is an all black police interptor that is not marked with a psuh bar and two spot lights. It has no siren , no two way radio, no other warning lights except wig/wags, which as far as I know are legal for anyone to use in a serious emergency.

I plan to post some of this info in a seperate topic because I do not know what I should do about this ticket. I don't see that the car is in any violation as far as I could discover within DMV vehicle codes about this. if anyone knows anymore than I do pelase let me know. But as far as blue lights of any kind- Well I see no law regulating the use of blue lights.
