My question involves a roommate in the State of: California
I lived with my girlfriend/fiancee in this nice house since May. We signed a year lease back in september with a property management (finally). All was fine for the first couple of months but MAY-AUGish. But the past several months things have turned for the worst. There is a lot of animosity between one of the room mates and my fiancee. It has come to the point where living here is making her life unbearable. She doesn't leave the room except to get food or smoke, They do not speak to one another whatsoever, and it is straining our relationship because of all the "drama" in the house. I have spoken to the property management and they said that we can break our lease but our deposit will be forfeit and that all the room mates need to sign off on it (the 2 couple and his mom). Now the mom has no issues with signing it off as long as there will be a replacement, which the property management agrees to. The problem is that I know the other couple will not sign it. The guy just told me that he will not sign anything whatsoever. My question is how can we proceed with this if we have someone who is uncooperative? Will calling a lawyer and stating our case (animosity, hostility, unbearable living) help at all? What I am afraid is that it will stress my relationship to a point where it might break.
Please help!
