    Default Real Estate License With a Felony Record

    My question involves criminal records for the state of: Maryland and Florida.

    I have a felonies in the state of Maryland(over 20 years) and in the state of Florida(over 15 years), I have since changed my life and currently live in New York. I have concerned getting a real estate license here in NY( I have no convictions in NY) Do you think I would be able to get a license or would it be a waste to even pursue this idea. Thanks in advance!

    We cannot tell the future.

    However, any decent background check will find the felonies.

    What were the crimes?

    NY will pull a NCIC for this type of application.

    Yes a felony from another state will come up as they do use the federal system now and have for quite a few years. It does not matter if it was 20 years ago, it will show up.
