    Default False charges of harassment

Can someone tell me how something like this would work?

If a group of people, namely one person and his friends & lawyers are responsible for filing multiple FALSE police reports - slashed tires, car entry and stolen items, harassing letters, vandalism, etc - and, each time, accusing the same group of people. What can this second group of people do to defend themselves? Are there any proactive measure that can be taken to stop these manufactured events of harassment? The types of incidents continue to escalate (there is rumor that they are now claiming that an assault occurred) and this first group of people are the type who would easily lie under oath and create witnesses if it came to that.

I realize I am being vague here, however I can elaborate if necessary.

Default The Sharks versus the Jets

In "West Side Story" they settled it with switchblades.... Okay, not a good idea, but not a bad musical rendition of Romeo and Juliet. (The stage version, that is. The movie is horrible.)

I digress.... Yes, it would take a lot more information to formulate any sort of meaningful response; but I'm not even sure that more information would help. Perhaps a neighborhood dispute resolution service or some other form of mediation could help resolve the issues at the core of the dispute.

Me again. I should mention that the two parties involved are engaged in a legal dispute -- employees who learned of malfeasance and other improprieties were terminated and filed a complaint and this made-up stuff is the other party's attempt at revenge of some sort.

    I mainly want to know
!) Is it possible for the accused "harassers" to be charged with something criminal if there is absolutely no way that it can be proven that they did something.

    2) Isn't it illegal to concoct events and then ask the authorities to investigate it in the hopes of setting someone up?

The aggrieved parties should pose those questions to their lawyers.
