Default Domestic Battery by Strangulation Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: FL

My dad had recently got into a fight with my step mom. While the fight was occurring i was asleep in my room, and supposedly my dad had choked my step mom. My dad is now in jail and has a 100,000 dollar bail and his charge is a felony. But when i got up to leave the house my step mom and dad were both asleep in their bedroom. i guess some time later that day she had called the cops, id say about in between 11 and 230 pm. They had taken picture of bruises on her neck and a statement from her. My question is does the state of florida have a time restriction on reporting the crime?

Yes, it does (it's called a statute of limitations), but it's measured in YEARS. It's not likely to be relevent in this case that a few hours went by before the report was made. Often in fights, whether they were domestics or not, it can take a while for marks or bruises to show, and it's relatively common for victims to not make the decision to report until either the brusing is apparant, or until they talk to their attorney, or any number of other factors.
