Default Unlawful Detention As a Child (Now Adult)

My question involves criminal law for the state of:
Well to make a long story short I was abused when I was 8-10yrs old and my parents also locked me up in the bathroom without the light on during that time only allowing out for bed but sometimes I had to sleep ing the tub.
what is the statues of limitations on something like this? and what do I need to do, it been along time but it killing me inside that nothin was ever done, esp: when family members knew. My dad has long left when I was becoming a teen and kinda didn't want to be around just incase I did do something but my mom laughs at this whole thing like it is normal. what are my options?

    Ouch! That's a long time.

Did this happen IN California? It doesn't matter where you might be, it matters where the offense(s) occurred.

I am afraid the SOL for any criminal prosecution has long since passed.

    Sorry.

I would strongly recommend that you seek some professional counseling if this is still causing you problems. It is not good to allow such things to fester on and on, and professional help CAN help.
