My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ontario, Canada
I don't know if anyone here knows the law of Canada. My husband is recently been charged with DV. what happend was we were in a fight, he throw a sock on my head first, then I pushed him, and then we were wrestling, because he is more stonger then me, he was on top of me, and choke me (not hard tho), and said "you think I dont dare to hit you?" because his mother was trying to tell him not to fight anymore, so he released me. I got up very angry trying to hit him back, then I got punched on the corner of my lip, and I have blood. Because of I bleed, I got more angry and hit him on the face, scratch him, punch him and slap him. And then once again he wrestle me down and chock me (not hard) again, but this time I bit him twice and then he released me. Then he came down, sitting on the couch, but I was still angry, I went back and hit him several times on the head, and then stoped. This is basicly my statment was and was in the video as well. I've been contact with the victim witness people, and she told me it's likely that the crown will offer him a peace bond, and send him to some concelling, and will likely to withdrawn the charge. However, I don't know this will result in any record in the police station and will effect him in future employment.
He is a PHD student in Geomatics engineering, he wants to work either in the federal govn't or as a professor. I don't know if this is going to effect him in seeking any employment in these areas. Also he also wants to find employment in US as well, I don't know if the states will ever let him work in there.
I love my husband, he never assulted me before. and I am a little spolied by him too, so I do things without thinking of any concequences. He has been working very hard on his future, I don't know calling the cops will result this, I don't want to ruin his future. Can anybody help me?
