My question involves a roommate in the State of: CA
I currently share a 2 bed room house with a roommate. We are both on the lease. I am trying to sublease for the last 3 months of a 1 year lease (moving for work) with landlords approval. Roommate is making situation difficult and says he will not live with stranger, which is everyone b/c he doesn't know or have any other friends here in San Jose. I believe that this is unreasonable, b/c there is no one that he will consider not a stranger. Again, landlord has given approval to sublease but the tenant won't make time to meet with prospective new tenants b/c he doesn't approve of me moving out. I have made a considerable amount of effort and taken a lot of time to post my room and arrange meetings with prospective new tenants. Land lord is taking their time in resolving matter while i have a time line for new job to start. Other roommate who has signed the lease with me has a cat. The lease stipulates to no animals. Can I legally terminate the lease and get out of it due to him having the cat? If not what else can i do to get out of the lease? Anything would help. Thanks.
