My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: Louisiana
I transferred 3 months ago to Louisiana from another country with the same company (intra-company transfer). The contract I signed in the other country stated that I would receive a one-off payment for transferring.
My employer is now saying that I will not receive this payment, even though it is in my contract and has been signed by the company and myself. The reason that they have decided not to give me the payment is that: I needed to have been with the company for 2 years upon transferring, and I was 28 days short of this. This was not stated in my contract, and the company admits to have made a mistake in not realising this earlier. I was only told of this 2 years when they told me I would not be receiving the payment in my contract.
What are my rights here and what can I do to rectify the situation so that my employer gives me what has been specified in my contract?
