    Default $20 Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

Got caught shoplifting at Walmart. Got two tickets for it. I was wondering as they were finalizing paperwork, I read an article in the office that said they were no longer going to prosecute anyone that shoplifted $25 or less anymore. Anything I can say or do?

Wal-Mart did have a general policy sometime back, but left it to individual stores or Districts. It didn't take long for them to abandon that.

An internal walmart memo has no bearing on process of law.

Much like the common misperception that a cop will "give you" 10 over the speed limit... It's called discretion.
