Default What Is A Companion Animal

I am reading this thread and I have a couple questions for the responders if you would be so kind. I'm no trying to hijack this thread, but these questions came up while I was reading it.

    1. Besides the definiation given in someones post what is the difference between an companion animal and pet?

    2. What qualifies an animal as a companion animals? Can I just go to the shelter and adopt a companion animal or are there certain guidelines the dog has to meet?

    3. If a companion animal is necessary who picks the species? For example the landlord did not wany dogs on the property but there were cats. The OP went to get her pet now companion animal returned to her and did not speak to the landlord about the possiblity of a cat.

Thanks...I was just reading the post and curious.

Default Re: What Is A Companion Animal

    In what state?

You're talking about a companion animal for emotional support, as opposed to a trained service animal?
