My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: AZ
About a month ago I received a nitoce in the mail that I had a medical bill that was sent to collections. I only live in AZ for part of the year and I was unaware that the mail from my doctor was being sent there. I was under the impression that my insurance was paying the bill and it was a done deal. I called the doctor and they told me that they had sent me notices but I obviously never received them...so the bill had ended up in collections because my insurance did not cover the visit. The bill was for $190 and the collections company was charging me $260. Is there a max that the collections company can charge me? I tried to ask the doctors office if they could pull it out of collections so I could just pay the bill to them and they told me once it goes to collections there is nothing they can do. Is my only option to just pay the collections agency? TIA
