My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Maine
I was driving home at 11:45pm when I drove through a flashing red light without coming to a complete stop, although I did reduce my speed and there were no other cars in the surrounding area with the exception of two cars behind me, one of which turned out to be a police officer.
I was issued a fine for $131 for not stopping and a fine for $171 for no proof of insurance, my insurance was valid but the card had expired a week prior.
I'm 18, I've had my license for two years and have never had so much as a parking ticket.
My question is: Is the ticket worth contesting because of the circumstances and is there any chance I can keep it from affecting my insurance?
