Default Daughter Caught Shoplifting a 2nd Time

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey.
My 17 yr old daughter was caught shoplifting in Lord and Taylors last night for $52 charm. This is the 2nd time in the same year, I am beside myself. The first time was at Macys and she was actually arrested, taken to station and figure printed value was $260 and we paid $150 demand to macy and she recieved a diversion program where she did this mail in class on shoplifting which she completed and charges were dismissed. This time the police were called and took the report but not taken to station release at store in my custody, they said we would be recieving something in the mail from family court and we have to Lord and Taylor $150. What can happen to her? Will they put her junivelle hall?

I've been doing research, since she's only 17, it would be easy for you to wait until she's 18, then apply to have her records expunged.
She'll probably pay a fine and/or do some community service.

A second offence will carry stiffer fines etc and possible jail time. You need to consult an Attorney

Should I get her into some kind of shoplifting classes etc, before we receive anything from family court? Do you think that will help so they do no put her in jail? She is in her senior year in high school and it in the process of submitting all of her college applications, I want to do all we have to avoid them sending her to jail.

Consider talking to her school counselor, and seeking a referral to a local mental health service. Depending upon your means and religion, you may be able to get affordable counseling through your church or a church organization (e.g., Catholic or Lutheran Social Services).
